Intellectual disability is generally characterized by low intelligence or mental ability and a lack of skills necessary for daily life functioning. But Rakesh Rathod, a 34-year-old male, braved all the odds and won a Bronze medal in cycling for India at the 2012 Special Olympics World Summer Games held in Australia. 
 

He started cycling at 14 years of age and has achieved many prizes and wins since then. Rakesh has mentioned in an interview how he derives a lot of satisfaction in cycling and that helps him stay upbeat. He has indeed made India proud representing the nation at a global level. He regularly donates blood to a different hospital. He is now an Employee of Our School.
